Zero Cavity Club

There are two important ways to become a member of our club.

1. Following a preventive visit, if you do not have any cavities.

2. Completion of all restorations needed.

When you have completed one of these, you are given a special certificate and your name is placed in our drawing.

Many times during the year Dr. Teddy will draw a name and he will present to the lucky winner a choice of:

A.  A gift certificate for $100 to Target or Apple Store.

B. A fun activity party with 20 of their friends.

WE WANT ALL OUR PATIENTS TO BE A ZERO CAVITY CLUB MEMBER !!

We are so proud of our cavity-free kids! We want to give extra recognition to the children who are doing an amazing job taking care of their teeth and staying cavity free!

If you child has a cavity-free check up, they will become a member of the Cavity Free Club! We will give them a certificate, have them take a picture with the doctor and enter their name in a drawing for some extra special prizes.

At the end of the month we hold a drawing. The winner of the drawing will not only get a special prize, but they will be featured as the Cavity Free Child of the Month! Their picture will be posted on the office wall, featured on our Facebook Page and in our Cavity Free Club Album!

If your child has a cavity at their visit – don’t worry! Once we have taken care of the cavity, your child will be cavity free and they get to join the Cavity Free Club.

How to help your child remain cavity free is a team effort between you, your child and the dentist.

Prevention

Your child’s lifetime of good oral health depends on the dental care he/she receives today. A healthy child is a happy child and oral hygiene can affect everything from nutrition and self-esteem to academics and speech.

All Smiles Children’s Dentistry is here to help parents with prevention. Our goal is to give families the resources to help them care for their teeth. After your first visit, we recommend you visit us every six months to help you stay on top of your child’s oral health and establishing consistency for your child to form good dental health care habits.

Brushing

It is best to brush your child’s teeth twice a day. You want to use a small and soft brush. We recommend replacing your toothbrush every 3-6 months. Brush in small circular motions and make sure to brush the gums as well as the teeth, but brush gently or you may damage the gums. Make sure to brush the sides of all teeth as well as the flat, chewing surfaces, and don’t forget to brush your tongue.

Flossing

Flossing helps remove plaque between. You can not reach these areas with a toothbrush, making it important to floss every day. Take a piece of floss about 18 inches long and wrap one end around one of your middle fingers and the other end around your other middle finger, until your hands are a few inches apart. Carefully work the floss between each of your teeth and towards your gums. Be sure to get beneath the gums and move up and down several times. Also, try not to pop the floss in and out, because it can cause hurt your gums.

Nutrition

Sugar can cause cavities. Starch can also cause cavities. When starch is broken down, it can turn into sugar. It is good to avoid foods that have high sugar content and are sticky, such as fruit snacks. These items can get stuck to your teeth very easily. Instead, think about substituting friendlier foods, such as fresh fruits and vegetables or dairy products like cheese and yogurt. It’s also best to not have too many sugary drinks like juice or soda. You can swap these liquids out in favor of things such as milk and water.

Caries & Cavities

Good hygiene is the first step towards preventing cavities. Through proper care and nutrition, we can help our kids avoid unhealthy teeth. Caries is the medical term for the disease that leads to cavities. By creating an environment for strong and healthy teeth, we can keep our children from ever going down a road of poor hygiene that leads to caries and then, ultimately, to cavities.
